GL Racing's LMP2 1/28

GL Racing's LMP2 1/28

Everything you need to know about the GL Racing LMP2 chassis.

This is a collaborative effort between Houston RC racers, testers and the online 1/28 community.

You can view our information video on this chassis here.

GL released the LMP2 in September of 2024. The initial batch of the LMP2 came with a 1/28 plastic Gulf Racing livery body. At the time of the launch a Green/Red/Black body was offered for sale.

You can read about our first race, the results and what we learnt here.

Things we've learned:

- In our HRC2500 class, this car shines! The 102mm wheelbase as well as the extremely low chassis (lowest COG from GL) make it extremely stable and easy to drive car.
- The car likes 15k Kyosho grease on its front and side, and 30k Kyosho grease on its center shock.
- For wheels, we found its best to stick with 8.5mm up front and 11mm in the rear. Zero offsets all around.
- We've found that while all 102mm bodies fit it really well.
- RADBody's Lumpy 98mm and Marka's LM6 98mm bodies also fit.

Our 1/28 RC racers practice 2-3x a week and race weekly, as we learn more about this chassis - we will update this blog. If you'd like to contribute or ask questions, feel free to post below.

We have now fixed 12+ cars where the builder put the wrong size bearings in the servo saver.

Please note. Two of the bearings are shorter. They belong in the servo saver.

Replying to Mark:

Now that we have a dozen of these running with varying skill levels:

- stock up on the kingpin screws,
- an extra screw set for this kit goes a long way,
- get the optional front springs,

The most common breakage points are the front headlights on the body and the kingpin screws falling off.

Any broken parts we should be ordering spares for off the get go?
Great info here on the site guys thanks!

M2x4 cap screws used for motor will not work. Too short, recommend 5mm at minimum. HRC motors will accept 6mm without having armature issues.

I see GL has revised the manual to say 26.5mm for the toe end links. Thanks HoustonRC for pointing it out to us early builders.
